Schnucks Weekly Ad
Was founded by the Schnucks family in 1939, when husband and wife team Edwin and Anna Schnucks opened their very first supermarket store in St. Louis. In the succeeding decades they were able to open more grocery stores in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Iowa, and Tennessee. It continued to lead in the supermarket chain store business in St. Louis when two of its biggest competitors A&P and Kroger decided to move their business out of St. Louis in the 1970s and the 1980s. It is now introducing a new concept in supermarket stores with the establshment of ‘Culinaria’ a modern and urban take on the traditional supermarket where they offer more shopping space, a wine department, sushi bar, bakery, coffee shop along with a meat and seafood department.
