Rouses Supermarkets Weekly Ad
One of the largest grocery store chains in Mississippi and Louisiana had humble beginnings as a City Produce Company in 1923. Owner JP Rouses sold local farmers produce from Terrebone, Lafourche, and the French Market in New Orleans around the United States. When Rouses built its very first supermarket store in Houma, Louisianna in the 1960s the company began expanding all around the Mississippi and Louisiana States. They continued to do so until the early part of 2000. Its greatest acquisition was perhaps purchasing sixteen Save A Center supermarket stores after Hurricane Katrina because it doubled the company in size.
